Randal Kolo Mouhani believes France can break through Spain and reach the final of Euro 2024 as planned.
France striker Randal Kolo Mouhani insists his side are stable, confident and fearless. As they believe they can beat Spain in Tuesday’s Euro 2024 semi-finals to book a place in the final against the winner of England or the Netherlands on Sunday. L’Equipe reported on Monday.
The 25-year-old forward said of his side’s penalty shootout win over Portugal in the last eight: ‘It feels good to be in the semi-finals and we are very proud of the game we played. We defended very strongly and even though we didn’t score. We fought until the end and we did a great job in the penalty shootout.’
Before explaining more about the French team, he said:
‘Character has always been our strength. We are all very strong and confident. We are together and that is very important for us. That is what will take us deep into this tournament.’
France are the strongest defensive team at Euro 2024, having conceded just one goal in their last five games before reaching the semi-finals despite scoring just three goals.
‘We all play defense together, fight together and give everything for each other, which has been the case since the beginning of the tournament. That’s the key to our success.’
France would not have made it this far without Mouhani as they faced Belgium in the last 16, with the 25-year-old forward crossing into the area only for Jan Vertonghen to turn it into his own net for the winner.
‘Thanks to everyone, not just me for coming, it was the attitude of the group, we played a great game, I just tried to bring freshness and the group helped me score goals and we won together.’
Asked about Spain, who the French team will face on Tuesday, Mouhani said: ‘They are a very good team. It will be a very good game. We will be ready, the whole team will be ready. We are not afraid of anyone. We are very confident and stable. We know they have a lot of quality, but we are a very tight group. That will take us through. ‘
